The book of Hebrews is beloved by many, including my friend ‘Avner,’ the guy who is taping every conversation Chris and I ever have on the phone. But outside of the love-fest is it Holy inspired, or just a really good Christian work worthy of attention and study but not rising to a God Breathed standard?
What about this book deserves canonization?
Based on the evidence the only reason to canonize it is that the Synod of Dort did.
It holds mistakes and errors.
It is inconsistent with some of the Old Testament accounts it sites.
It is infamous for its authorship. This is a remarkable fact given that at Dort authorship was a primary consideration for canonization.
If tradition is your only evidence then find a new hobby other than Biblical studies. Maybe yard darts.
